Good Earphones for Under Rupees 1000

Any music will be good if you are enjoying it and a normal listener will never expect abundant details and not bothers about the minute sounds that are used in the tracks. An engaging sound which will not hurt ears even after long listening is the only thing many expect, when it comes to budget.

Does a budget constraint make you to enjoy the music?  - Definitely yes. You can enjoy the music from a good earphone/headphone, if you are not used to hi-end models. In this article, I will provide some good earphones at affordable prices.

As the Technology is increasing day by day, many new products are releasing in the market attracting with some unique specs. When I first knew about Apple, the Apple earphones were the best earphones and were very expensive. But, now the situations have changed and the apple earphones came down till 700. Still, they are not worth cent percent. Many brands are excelling in producing quality products for affordable prices.

For example, when the computers were started in the Indian market, Creative was the only company which produces quality speakers, and I remember more than 80% of the speakers were Creative’s. But now the situations have been changed. Altec Lansing has put its mark in producing quality speakers and many were more than happy with it. But now the trend is Logitech’s, Edifier’s and F&D’s.
Let’s hope much better products in the future for a bargain price.

For Below 1000 (Rupees 1k)
Many earphones produce crappy earphones for this budget; however, some earphones really shine in engaging the listeners with decent sound for the price. A quality bass with average circumstances make a normal listener happy for the affordable budget.
The first brand that comes to my mind is SoundMagic - A very good company for those who are on a budget. PL21 is one among the best, for 800 or less. This company has recently launched one more product in the market, ES18 which looks and sounds even better. ES18 is available in the market at 500 (approximately). These earphones excels compared to others in the market.

One more company that comes in my mind is JVC and their earphone named marshmallow – liked by many users. Though there are many brands, I have mentioned only the ones available in India. If you want to know other brands available in US or UK, message me through comment, I will get back to you as early as possible.

Other Suggested earphones for less than 1K

•    Ultimate Ears UE100
•    Philips SHE3570
•    JVC HA-FXC50
•    SoundMagic PL11
•    Cowon CE1

what about Sennheiser MX 170 and other big brand like skull candy, sennheiser, jbl earphones under rs 1000?
Unknown said…
Hello Shikha,
Thanks for writing...
If you are looking for on-ear type of earphone then MX170 is also a good one. But before buying keep the size of the eartips in mind. The diameter of MX170 is a little bigger than the ear hole which leads to strain to the ear after using it for 10 minutes or so.

I don't think Skullcandy could be considered at least under this budget. They are not that great.

SoundMagic is really a good brand of you look for some budget earphones. It started emerging in India recently. You could also consider JBL Tempo in-ear.

Sennheiser will be expensive and there are many fake Sennheiser's in Indian market. You can check for CX 281 if available for your budget. You can also consider Apple earpods, Panasonic ErgoFit RPHJE120, Sony MDREX10LP/BLU...

Please get back to me in case of clarifications...

Hi Harsha, what are your thoughts about Creative ep-630? also, how does it hold up against Soundmagic PL11? also, I've been looking into Sony MDR-EX100LP as well.. Can't seem to make up my mind.. I've been using the creative EP630 extensively for the past 4 years, and now that it's breathing its last, I need either the same level of audio experience or better..
Unknown said…
Hello Neel,
Thanks for writing. Yes, EP-630 have a open type sound. It produces good sound even at less volumes. This helps you to limit your volume when you travel.

The bass quantity is more or less the same. I could suggest EP630 over PL11.

If you want some change or wanna try something better, I would suggest the following earphones
SoundMagic PL21 - Has good bass and sound quality compared to the EP-630
Sony MDR-EX100LP - Produces better overall sound quality than EP630 - soft sounding nature - not a bass heavy earphone
Panasonic HJE120s - Best earphone and VFM.

Please reply if you have any other questions.
Thanks for writing.

HI Harsha,
Thanks a lot for suggesting the Panasonic HJE120.. I went through all its reviews and they are actually terrific.. However, its priced almost half that of the creative EP630, are you sure the sound experience of the former is at par with the latter?
Unknown said…
Hello Neel, If you want to compare Creative with Panasonic then I could say both has its own pros and cons. As you already tried Creative's, give HJE120 a try with the price 50% less then the EP630 and you will never be disappointed with it.

Hello Anurag,
Thanks for writing.
You will get a basic for the price if you want to go for Sennnheiser or JBL.

If you are looking for a headset (earphone with Mic) then you can go for Sony MH1 or MH1-c. This will be a really good headset for the price.

If you are considering earphones I would suggest you to go for VSonic GR99, JVC HA-FX40, Brainwavz Beta,JVC HA-FXC50, TDK MT300 and SoundMagic PL21.

Consider the preference in the order mentioned above.

Thanks for writing. Please do let me know if you have any further questions.

I want over the ear headphone under 2k....have thought of Audio technica ath sj11,jbl tempo over the ear, skullcandy wage.....plz suggest me..
Unknown said…
Hello,
Thanks for writing. For the budget you have, you can get a decent headphone.

I have owned JBL tempo. It is a good headphone. Right Choice magazine is gifting it for 1 year subscription which comes for 999. (JBL Tempo + Monthly magazines).

I have not heard Audio Technica's basic models. So, I cannot comment on it. You can go for Sennheiser HD202 if it comes for your budget.
My Suggestions:
Sennheiser PX100
Grado iGrado
Koss PortaPro
Unknown said…
I also would like to sell my Koss PortaPro which I bought 3 months ago for writing review.

I would like to sell it for the stealing price of 2k which is around INR3.5-4.5K in the market.

Please let me know if any one is interested. I hardly used it, coz I never carry headphones outside.

Hi. I have been checking the user reviews of the earphones mentioned by you. I see that, several of the users say that the X earphone is good for pop, bollywood and not for Metal, rock. And I know that many earphones out there have difference when playing different genres.
I have been using sennheizer MX170 for a year now. I find it good for Rock music of band like Porcupine Tree, Opeth, Tool, Riverside.
I want you to reccomend me some earphones good for Rock music with great Bass. My budget 1000 bucks. 200 up/down is possible.
Thanks in advance. :)

Da5000 Pro - Quick Review

DA5000 Pro is a very popular multimedia speaker system and the fans call it as a mini home theater.  The package is really huge with 2 boxes. One box with a heavy 8” sub-woofer and the other box contains satellite speakers. The build quality is good with wooden housings and looks good. The DA5000 Pro is the next version of the DA5000. DA5000 has plastic housings for satellites and the pro version is released with MDF housings. In addition, DA5000 rare speakers are of 6W each where as the Pro has 12W each. It has a wireless remote which has many options to adjust the sound as per one’s personal tastes. There are separate options to adjust Bass, Treble and Mids.  Sound output of each satellite speakers can also be adjusted. Overall it has a very good build quality and decent looks. Sound Quality – let me preface by saying sweet sounding speakers for the budget with soft bass and good details. An inbuilt sound card is definitely not a good source to check the efficiency of the speaker

SoundMagic E30 review

E30, another emerging and top searched IEM from SoundMagic. E30 is launched as an upgrade to PL30 – a budget earphone with fun and spacious sounding, and also a preferred earphone by many customers even for now. The outlook and feel of E30 is similar to PL30 – an on-ear type earphone, designed for the use even while working out, playing and other activities. Accessories and Build Quality The package comes with a pair of plastic ear guides, a pair of double-flange tips, 3 pairs of single flanged other different sized silicon tips, a carrying bag and a shirt clip and  these accessories are sufficient and quite enough to fit for different ear holes. The build quality is good. As, I am currently using the third version of E30 which shows a good improvement in the build quality compared to the previous two versions I used (not sure about how many versions of E30 has been released). In the newer version, the wire looks like a rope where two wires are twisted to combine the
